ENG 306 - American Literature after 1865 (3)

This course provides an overview of major literary developments in the United States between the end of the Civil War to the present. By the conclusion of the course students will be able to describe the major trends of Realism, Naturalism, Modernism, and Postmodernism. Moreover, students will be able to identify relationships between the major literary expressions of hte era and their cultural contexts. They will shape and express their newfound knowledge through the development of a focused research paper.
