SOC 215 - Introduction to Criminology (3)

This course considers the sociological, psychological, and physiological contexts for criminal activities.  A wide range of criminal actions are discussed including murder, organizational deviance, theft, and prostitution as well as the use and distribution of illegal substances. In this course, students will analyze morality, “free choice,” and the predictability of criminal behavior.  With these complex issues in mind, students will question whether or not our criminal justice systems are adequately prepared to address behaviors that our society has judged to be illicit.
Prerequisite: SOC 109
