COU 634 - Group Processes (3)


A study of overt and covert group processes as they occur in intervention counseling groups (therapy and growth groups) as well as in agency work groups (staff groups, committees and staff meetings). The course is designed to increase students’ awareness in working with different kinds of groups as participant, leader, or consultant. This course provides student interactive experience with a variety of group styles. As a result of this course, students will: 1) Demonstrate knowledge of historical and current theories as well as various approaches and strategies of group processes; 2) Document experience as group participant, leader, or consultant; 3) Demonstrate the ability to apply the theory and constructs to actual group work.
