COU 662 - Career Counseling (3) This course examines historical and current theories, principles, and practices of vocational and career counseling over a lifespan. The course addresses interrelationships of career, family, and other roles which affect work. The impact of multicultural, gender, and lifestyle issues on careers is considered. Strategies for assessing abilities, interests, values, personality, and other factors are explored. The course emphasizes the importance of advocating for diverse clients’ career and educational development. Students explore their own career development and enhance helper skills through role play.
