EDU 684 - Translanguaging Instruction for Multilingual Learners (3) This course explores how bilingual and multilingual individuals fluidly navigate and integrate linguistic resources across languages to communicate, learn, and construct meaning. Students will engage with key theories of translanguaging, including its distinctions from code-switching and bilingualism, its implications for identity and power, and its role in challenging monolingual ideologies in education and society. The course focuses on pedagogical applications, equipping students with strategies to implement translanguaging in various educational contexts, particularly in language learning, bilingual education, and literacy development. Through critical discussions, case studies, and hands-on projects, students will evaluate the benefits and challenges of translanguaging practices and develop their own research or instructional strategies.
