EDU 619 - Teaching English Learners in a General Education Classroom (3)


This course provides educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies required to effectively support English Learners (ELs) in general education settings. Grounded in theories of second language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and differentiated instruction, the course explores best practices for enhancing ELs’ academic achievement while promoting their language development and social-emotional well-being. Special emphasis is placed on creating an inclusive classroom environment that values multilingualism and collaborates with ESL specialists, families, and communities to foster the success of EL students. Educators will complete this course prepared to design meaningful, accessible, and engaging learning experiences for EL students at various proficiency levels.
