ART 101 - Art Appreciation (3) This course is an introduction to the methods and principles of the visual arts. The course is intended to expand the student’s perception of the visual arts, through an examination of form and content. An understanding of the basic elements and principles of design of the visual arts will be an important part of this course. By the end of the semester, the student should be able to apply these terms properly to a work of art through written assignments, in-class discussions, and hands-on exercises, enabling them to explain how these visual elements and principles contribute to expression in works of art. The student should come to realize that works of art and design influence their daily life in many ways. Not intended for art majors.
