HIS 337 - American Women’s History (3)Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or permission. A general survey of U.S. women’s history, from the colonial period to the present. Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate knowledge of the major themes and problems of women in American history and women’s contributions to American political, social, and cultural life. Students examine how women are connected and divided by region, race and class. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the role of gender and sex in American history and how such themes/ideologies affect men as well as women.
