If you are energized by solving complex problems and helping others make smart decisions, finance is where your talents belong. As a finance major, you’ll develop the analytical expertise, ethical reasoning, and communication skills that today’s employers demand. Doane’s application-oriented curriculum goes beyond theory - you will master financial management, valuation, financial technology, and investment analysis while learning to present your insights with clarity and confidence. From capital markets and mergers to financial planning and forecasting, you will build a versatile toolkit that prepares you to make sound financial decisions in any environment. You will strengthen your quantitative reasoning, sharpen your decision-making abilities, and learn to balance data-driven analysis with values-based discernment.

Students who complete the B.A. in Finance will be able to: 

  1. Exhibit general knowledge of theories and practices in the core areas of business.
  2. Critically analyze and apply knowledge across business disciplines to solve complex situations. 
  3. Demonstrate effective professional communication skills.
  4. Collaborate effectively in teams.
  5. Develop decisions informed by ethical values.
  6. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of finance knowledge. 
  7. Prepare a business valuation using finance methods and theories.

Accreditation

Doane’s Bachelor’s degree program in Finance is currently not accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). New degree programs must be in effect for at least two years and have had graduates before accreditation will be granted.
