MTH 324 - Teaching of Mathematics I (0-2) Generally taken during the junior year. This course represents the beginning of the transition from a student of mathematics to a teacher of mathematics. This course involves developing planning skills and sequencing tasks for selected mathematics courses for grades 7-12 that are in line with state and national standards. Students successfully completing this course will 1) understand philosophically the difference between teacher and student of mathematics, 2) know the difference between conceptual understanding and procedural knowledge, 3) write lesson objectives and use questioning techniques to determine if those objectives were met, and 4) write daily lesson plans and unit plans complete with course appropriate activities.
