A. Biology Emphasis
Complete BIO 348, CHM 205 (or 303), and a minimum of seven credits from each of the following groups (at least one three- or four- credit course must be from each group):
- BIO 308, 337, 349, 333 (or 332) or EVS 325
- EVS 105, 205, 320, 330, 485 GEG 320, 325, GEO 107, HIS 352, PSI 216, 234, 313, PHY 107, 108, 201, or 202.
B. Computational Thinking Emphasis
Complete 1, 2, and 3.
- MTH 107, IST 145, IST 146, EVS 320
- Complete one course chosen from PHI 105, MTH 108
- A minimum of three credits chosen from the following: EVS 105, 205, 325 (or BIO 332 or 333), 330, 410, GEG 320, 325, GEO 107, HIS 352, PSI 216, 234, 313, PHY 107, 108, 201, or 202.
C. Chemistry Emphasis
Complete 1, 2, and 3.
- CHM 205, 303
- Eight credits choose from the following: CHM 206, 322, 326
- A minimum of three credits chosen from the following: EVS 105, 205, 320, 325 (or BIO 332 or 333), 330, 410, GEG 320, 325, GEO 107, HIS 352, PSI 216, 234,313, PHY 107, 108, 201, or 202.
D. Political Science and Policy
Select 15 credits from the following: INT 101, INT/PSI 325, PSI 105, 215, 216, 234, 243, 310, 313, 327, 328, 332, PSI/PSY 216
E. Agriculture and Natural Resource
Complete EVS 105, 325, 410 and a minimum of nine credits from the following: BIO 316, 332, 333, 345, 335 (or 348), 352, EVS 301, 320, 392, GEG 112 (or GEO 101), 320, GEO 107
Note: Only one course can be at the 100 level and only two can have the same prefix.
F. Science Teaching Emphasis
Environmental Science majors completing this emphasis are qualified to teach earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics in grades 7 -12.
Complete 1, 2, and 3.
- Complete the following courses: BIO 110, 111, 112, 295, 348, 332 (or 333), CHM 125, 126, 205 (or 303), PHY 107 (or 201), 108 (or 202), GEO 101, 107, 107L, MTH 107 (or 108, 125, 235), ECO 309 (or EVS 392), EVS 301, ENG 318 (or HIS 320), SCI 322, 324, 326, 327.
- Select 1 or 2. Select a total of two courses for at least seven credits, each from a different group:
- Biology: BIO 308 (or 345), BIO 215 (or 326 or 355), BIO 216 (or 331 or 325)
- Chemistry: CHM 205 or 303. Complete two courses chosen from: CHM 206, 322, 326
- All requirements listed under the catalog section Secondary Education.
Notes:
- Students completing this major may not minor in Environmental Studies.
- The mathematics requirement can be satisfied by taking any one of the following: MTH 107, 108, 125, 235.
- Students must formally declare a biology, chemistry, science teaching, agriculture and natural resources, or computational thinking emphasis at the registrar’s office.
